At the Crossroad of Destiny
At the Crossroad of Destiny
Battling with my own daily strife
I arrived at the main crossroad
Of the destiny of my life,
Where three roads greeted my scrutiny
And a choice had to be made
That would chart my life`s destiny.
The west-bound road, smooth, spacious,
And smacking of wine along the way,
Abounded with sounds of dancing,
Hilarious laughter and music all day
And various kinds of merrymaking
For sheer pleasure of the body.
The second road eastward bound,
Rather rough, rugged and narrow,
Exalted perfumes of incense all around,
With echoes of devotional songs
And chanting of divine scriptures
On the bumpy road all along.
The third road spanning straight forward
Was misty, frosty and scary
And allowed no vision outwards;
Moving ahead was like making
A leap in the immense unknown
And a thought, indeed, saddening.
At the crossroad of destiny,
Knowing not which route to choose,
I closed my eyes to the vicinity
And just immune to the surrounds,
I delved deep down my inner self
To guide me on the route around.
Soon a softly audible voice
Beckoned to me just to embrace
The straight forward road as my choice,
The road that was just full of haze,
But will lead to my destiny
Towards the close of my journey.
Alone without anyone to guide me,
I groped along in the unknown,
Devoid of attachment and free,
Through the misty and frosty haze
For days and days, for weeks and weeks,
Almost famishing in the glaze;
But at the journey`s crucial end,
I was just pleasantly amazed
To glimpse that the last misty bend
Led to my real destiny,
Beyond the maze of spirituality
To the divine sphere of eternity.
