Mints

Katelyn 2007 (New Brunswick)

I'm the type of person to bite into the mint
Instead of savoring it little by little
I dive right in to get that minty burn in my mouth,
All of it at once
I am the same way with my relationships,
I love too much, too fast
And so is it better to not love at all.
I scare away everyone I care about
Because I care too much.
I crave that minty burn and exhilaration
And so I jump in while they just watch and judge me
So now I don’t have mints at all
Because I know my teeth will chomp down
As soon as it hits my tongue.
