Ribcage of ice

Do you know how cold it’s been
since you’ve gone?
The nights stretch
like there’s no end,
And the stars throw ice
that cuts through flesh
And bone.

And I’m supposed to
pretend like I’m okay,
like the chill doesn’t wreck me
fresh every night?
Do you know how cold it’s been
when I can’t even bear
To feel my own heart
in a ribcage of ice?

How much strength
will I need
for tomorrow,
When you still
aren’t here?

What I feel I shouldn’t show you
so when you around I won't.
I know I've no right to feel it,
but it doesn’t mean I don’t!
And now I can feel
I am half of the whole.

I am that one who wakes up
from dreaming,
And I am just a prosthesis mask
over my own soul.
Miss you where I've been,
I'll be back to love you again!

I felt this is quite incredible considering how it relates to so many nights we have all spent thinking of just one thing. Reading this certainly brings back memories but also hopes of having a future. ❤️
