The Void That Consumes Me

Many nights I lay and wait,
I wait for the dark to come,
freedom from my pain,
the darkness beats a drum.

The sound fills my brain,
my thoughts are kept still,
they are overshadowed,
pushed into a pill.

I swallow hard,
as the darkness goes down,
it seems to fight,
I feel like a clown.

If I don't make it,
through the next night,
I hope you know,
I gave my best fight.

About this poem

My secret darkness is back and I am not ready for the next battle.
