The Call of a Solder

The call to arms goes far and near,
To the cities and farms of those we hold dear,
a call to fight for freedom and life,
through day and night,
Through pain and strife,

They fight in this war,
Sad and alone,
Away from their families,
And far from their home,
The thoughts of their loved ones,
Keeps them fighting all day,
Their love for these people,
compels them to stay,
They’ve given their lives,
They gave them away,

They gave it for all,
For a neighbor or friend,
They answered the call,
They fight to the end,
For all those who fight,
They fight for someone,
For a future so bright,
for a daughter or son,

Not for riches or fame,
But a mother or father,
Not for honor or name,
But a sister or brother,
It’s for others they die,
So that others might live,
It’s true no lie,
It’s their life they give,

The price of our freedom,
Is the loss of these men,
Who continue to fight,
Again and again,
