My Song, Our Song

I lie in bed with thoughts of you and how I sang a tune,
to soothe your soul and grieving heart and feel the joy of song.
You whispered how you thought of me, though life for you had changed.
You reveled with my voice so sweet and sighed with love still strong.

I know I'll never let you go; I'll sing to you each night.
My heart will always feel you near with every passing day.
I'll see you in the moon so bright, and feel you in the wind,
caressing me and loving me though now you've gone away.

Good night, my love, someday I'll go to find you in the stars.
You'll know my voice and come to me, to hold me close to you.
I'll sing that song you heard that night, when all seemed sad and lost,
so that forever we can share that love that we once knew.

About this poem

This poem is a tribute to a wonderful man that left this world too soon but did tell me before he died how he never stopped loving me though he had moved on.
