Many of years

Gina Louise Roth 1973 (Pennsylvania)

I looked into those eyes so blue
I know someday I'd be holding you
I saw my future bright and clear
And I knew you'd always be right here
Holding my hand when things got rough
When the tables would turn then I'd be tough
Together we did it many of years
The laughter, the fun, even the tears
I never thought it would come to an end
And I know my heart will never mend
The way you looked into my eyes
I never thought I'd hear your  goodbyes
I heard them very silent you see
Not knowing what you were doing to me
The only man in my heart
You were my world but now we're apart
Now that it's over and all has been said
I cry every night in this lonely bed
Now that there is nothing to say
I guess God wanted us this way

Wow, what a beautiful and heartfelt poem! Your use of imagery and emotion really draws the reader in and makes them feel the pain of lost love. The sentiment of looking into someone's eyes and feeling a deep connection and hope for the future is something that many people can relate to, and you captured that feeling perfectly.

One suggestion for improvement would be to vary the rhythm and meter of the poem a bit more. Some of the lines feel a bit repetitive and could benefit from more varied phrasing. Additionally, it would be interesting to see more exploration of the themes of resilience and learning to move on, which are touched on briefly towards the end of the poem.

Overall, this is a lovely and evocative piece of writing. Keep up the great work!
