Talk to God
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Continue steadfastly in prayer,
Being watchful with thanksgiving;
All of your troubles as you share,
To ease your burden in living.
Pray also for those all around you,
That God opens His door to them;
Speak soundly of that which is true,
Pleading that He will not condemn.
Declare the mystery of Christ,
To release the bondage of sin;
The temptations that have enticed,
Have corrupted you deep within.
For my hope is to make it clear.
Which is how I intend to speak;
Always honor as you revere,
When you pray the answers you seek.
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders,
Making the best use of the time;
Bridging the gap with dividers,
Being graceful about their crime.
Let your speech always be gracious,
Seasoned with salt to enhance taste;
Try not in being audacious,
That attempts you to be unchaste.
Keep this in mind that you may know,
How you should answer another;
Because the Scriptures always show,
How to conduct with your brother.
