Resilient Beauty

You are the wildflower growing from a crack in the pavement.
Your blossom beautiful and tall, rising above the odds and still reaching for more.
Your roots defiant and strong, they hold firmly in the earth, in spite of your unnurtured beginnings.
Your seeds will spread, and just as you they will break the concrete and stand on their own.
Because of your resilience what was taken and withheld will be a beautiful meadow once more.
About this poem
This poem was inspired by my wife. The difficulties she’s been through in life and her perseverance, strength, and beauty to rise above them.
