THE MIDDLE OF DECEMBER
One cold evening in the middle of December,
I searched for the pieces of my heart to put together.
It was no easy task as I spent that January,
Putting to rest some painful memories.
By February, it was done and it looked brand new,
It was my desire to keep it hidden until I met you.
And one sunrise in the early days of March,
Had me staring at the horizon imagining your touch.
Approaching you was my intention but I just wasn't able,
So I admired you from afar in those slow days of April.
And when I came to you on that day in May,
You made me speechless and I forgot what to say.
I never thought you'd be in my arms by June,
For us to tell stories as we looked at the moon.
Slowly, you became someone on which I could rely,
You were there for me in those painful times in July.
Every minute in August I spent with you,
I bragged to the stars that the love we had was true.
I wish it remained that way and September never came,
For from that month, nothing ever remained the same.
You could have just said what we had was over,
But I had to find you in someone's arms that October.
Whatever had held my heart together disappeared,
November brought back the hurt and the tears.
Now as I sit here alone with the pieces of my heart, I remember,
That today is once again the start of the middle of December.
