Through the eyes of a child,
I saw Hunger and Anger...
Hunger for the things she didn't have
Anger for the things she had.
She didn't have what she deserved,
She had what she didn't deserved
She was not Greedy...
She just wanted a "P" for Painkiller
She just wanted an "E" for Education
She just wanted an "A" for Abundance
She just wanted a "C" for Care
She just wanted an "E" for Empathy
She just wanted those five letters
But now she doesn't need them anymore
Because she has found peace ...
She passed away, and right now
Is in the arms of the Lord Almighty
In the Heavens
Sending those letters
To us, down here...
She is not greedy
About this poem
This poem was written back in 2003. I was inspired after visiting a children's ward at a Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa and found this little girl called Eunice. She had cancer and was in a lot of pain....
