The Claws Of The Narcissist
Craig Childers 1964 (Santa Cruz)
Narcissism is becoming more frequently known
A dysfunctional prefrontal cortex as science has shown
The self objectivity is absent you see
And they are null and void of any empathy
They exploit and coerce with triangulation
And engage in emotional indoctrination
They have fantasies of unlimited success
While keeping their targets in constant duress
On top of the world in their delusional state
Manipulating others is clearly their fate
They will devalue you amongst your friends
From their relentless spite, there is no end
They expect all praise and admiration
As they indulge in their targets humiliation
They will over idealize with all their intent
With no introspection in a mind well bent
The narcissist does not make any mistakes
And in their exploits there are no brakes
There is no light in the mind of a narcissist
Just arrogance and haughtiness amidst a self serving bliss
They exert circular reasoning and their gas lighting
And straw man fallacy partners with the belittling
They engage word salad in a manipulative tone
And recruit flying monkeys to keep their targets alone
So pompous, entitled, and grandiose,
But that is what the public wants to see
Control is destiny in their insecure mind
To your right and your left, you’ll find like kind
Their charm and charisma will mesmerize all
But failure’s fear can make them fall
And in the prefrontal cortex that science now knows
Are the claws of a narcissist that continue to glow
About this poem
This poem is my attempt in helping others to familiarize themselves with the characteristic traits of narcissism through poetry. I believe these characteristic traits, or patterns of behaviors, can be in large groupings of people, such as countries. This can result in genocides and ethnic cleansings. Generally speaking, narcissistic traits stay with people their entire lives, which means there are no troughs in the graph of narcissism, just ever increasing peaks that correspond to our population expansion. more »
