The portrait

She painted an ugly portrait of me
A picture that only my mommy could see
A grotesque, ravenous, monstrous beast
In glorious wildness, dangerously
If ever, ever, ever unleashed
It will hunt you down, then capture you
Then choke you till your face turns blue
Release it's grip, watch you gasp for air
And relish with glee at your look of despair
It's dragon -claws will tear pieces off you
And that hawk-like beak poking holes into you
A fiery breath that can scorch your skin
And burn your hairs, boil your blood deep within
At long last it will swallow you whole
Then spit out your white-washed tortured bones
And wallow in the glory of the capture
While reminiscing about your anguished moans

She painted a darkened picture of me
An image that only my mom could see
Which she kept within herself till the day she died
Being scattered on her shores by a treacherous tide
When finally her heart stopped within her breast
And tears escaped from her stilled eyes, long unshed
I choked on my breathing and stifled a sigh
And wished in that moment that I too could die

She painted a crooked portrait of me
A picture that only my momma could see
My momma and I who failed to bond
Not even before she reached the great beyond
She took that image to her grave
While my tortured soul's engulfed in rage
When one person's quest in selfish gain
Left us both naked in the pouring rain
And since she'd left without regret
Without remorse she'd happily fled
So now I'm left with hurt and shame
Was blind and have myself to blame

She painted a shameful picture of me
A painting that only my mother could see
But soon her reckoning day will come
Then she'd be exposed with her mask undone

About this poem

A shocking revelation of how far people are willing to go to harm a relationship with a loved one purely out of jealousy
