The True Beast

Animal you are, but you can’t see it,
Barbarian you are, but you can’t be it,
I have claws, but you have a gun,
But in the game of prey, it’s you who have won,
 You child, man’s son

You live in a house, I live in a cave,
Uncivilized is actually how you behave,
I don’t like to kill my own kind,
But too often the like was on your mind,
But in the game of prey, it’s you who have won,
You child, man’s son

The ocean could not hold the amount of blood you shed,
Innocent people and animals to slaughter you led,
Your hatred is strong and undying,
But for a better world some say “We’re trying”,
But I, a mountain lion you say is a beast,
But man on fellow man, who will really feast?
Is it not man who is the true beast?

About this poem

When I lived in California the fear of the mountain lion was always told. As there habitat becomes scarce this poem is the mountain lion’s voice to tell mankind who really is the beast of destruction. It calls mankind out to look at the destructive energy they have left behind and gives voice to the animals as to what they might say if they could.
