Attitude

Attitude
By Robert T. Davenport
In the depths of my soul, I must confess,
A truth that's hard to bear, I must address.
For my attitude, so destructive and cold,
Has left a trail of broken hearts, untold.
With every word I speak, a dagger I wield,
Piercing the hearts of those who once appealed.
My arrogance and pride, a toxic brew,
Destroying relationships, both old and new.
I push away those who try to get close,
With a callous demeanor, I repose.
My indifference and apathy, a wall so high,
Leaving others feeling abandoned, oh so dry.
I fail to see the pain I inflict,
Blinded by my own ego, so strict.
I tear down bridges, burn them to the ground,
Leaving nothing but ashes, all around.
For relationships are fragile, delicate things,
Built on trust, love, and the joy it brings.
But my attitude, like a hurricane's wrath,
Leaves nothing but ruins in its path.
So I must reflect, and change my ways,
Before all that's left is a void, a haze.
To mend the wounds, and heal the scars,
To rebuild what's broken, among the stars.
For it's in our attitude, we hold the key,
To nurture connections, set others free.
To show compassion, empathy, and care,
And build relationships that will always be there.
