My Humble Abode

Elaine Klutse 2011 (Accra)

When you knocked on the door
Of my humble abode
I let you in
I made you comfortable
But you criticized my living
You judged everything
Without looking twice at yours
We both had different homes
But why judge my home
While we all had different homes?
You did that just because of your own insecurities
But I stayed humble
Because I knew everyone was different
So being humble and patient
Is better then letting your insecurities overshadow you

About this poem

Growing up I didn't know my potential. I didn't know what to do in life. Until oneday I decided to write a poem and ended up writing a lot and it continued. At school teachers told me I was really good for my age (12 years). But there was this one friend who thought poetry was a waste of time. So she thought her passion was rather better than mine.
