Thawing Hearts: Rediscovering Innocence

In shadows deep, a heart once warm,
Now cloaked in ice, its fire gone.
Trauma's grip, relentless hold,
Turned gentle soul to bitter cold.

But in the haze of frosty night,
A glimmer breaks the endless fight.
A face, a mirror of the past,
Awakens embers thought long-last.

A child's innocence, untouched by pain,
Eyes that sparkle, pure and sane.
A reflection of what once had been,
Before the world turned cruel and mean.

As icy walls begin to crack,
The heart remembers what it lacks.
A warmth, a hope, a love once known,
Before the darkness claimed its throne.

Slowly, softly, the thaw begins,
As memories of joy seep in.
For in this child, a chance to heal,
To rediscover what was real.

And though the journey may be long,
The heart finds solace in the song
Of innocence regained, love rekindled,
In the embrace of a child, unbridled.
