DESPERATE MAN
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
DESPERATE MAN
Oh people, a fallen race
Trampled in a desperate
Attempt to keep pace
And maybe out run fate
See dreams fall to dust
Fallen hopes are crushed
Despair fills the pasted smile
False facades tumble by
Weeds tumbling mile by mile
Never knowing each smile's a lie
The wind howls, you're lost now
The game’s rigged, can't cry foul
Stumble, crawl, run, or walk
The scene is always the same
Like the Peanuts people talk
No one knows my forgotten name
Alone, the world cuts no slack
Again your knocked on your back
Is there Salvation? Will You forgive?
Am I condemned to live just as I am
By Faith You say, Righteous live
I fall here before the Risen Lamb
Salvation comes as a raging Flood
Standing firm in the Lamb's Blood
You called me here, Here I stand
Amongst the ruins of the fallen Race
And I see the excuses of desperate man
I run desperate to see Your Holy Face
Lord I demand ever more of You!
Let all else fail, Your Grace is true
So You call my Lord, by name
You formed all this long way
My heart can't ever be the same
As I humble my heart to pray
To You, alone, do I belong
When I am weak, God is strong
Amen
