LAND OF A DREAM
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
LAND OF A DREAM
I sometimes wonder how we got so far
And then I think of where we go from here
With our dreams we keep reaching for the star
When what we really need is oh so near
Where we're supposed to be right where we are
Standing here there is nothing to fear
The Dreamer said he had a dream
We're living that dream today
I know how strange it can seem
To be living in the right way
Dreams will come, and hopes will fly
Days rush so fast you can't see
I'm a moment they all pass you by
Before you know the meaning of free
You'll look away; wipe a tear from your eye
Turn to God and say, "what will be, will be"
The planes can crash with a roar
And buildings will fall to the ground
Flames can consume all; till we have no more
Take a deep breath and look around
Through the smoke and fog of war
Our might can silence the enemies sound
When we realize we've settled the score
We will ensure that freedom will abound
United we stand, a Nation under God
He is our hope and our trust
We'll March forward and always plod
In His footsteps to find the just
Tomorrow, we'll it can take care of itself
Today we fight and struggle on
We stand for more than our wealth
Our ideals will stand long after its gone
AMEN
About this poem
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. Daniel 12 2 3
