To Feel So Much In Short Space Of Time
You know, I really liked you
Probably too much for the space of time
Maybe it was desperation
Or the sudden need to be seen by another
Whatever it was, it made me fall too hard
And too quickly.
A day in and the sky was prettier
The rain suddenly wasn’t depressing.
Everything else seemed insignificant to me
Suddenly, the world had color
And pleasant smells
Once again, after so long
My brain was painting again
A million scenarios
From kisses to gifts
And laughter to hugs
Everything and more,
My brain painted it all.
Now looking back,
I expected more
I hoped for more
Way more than what I was given.
I should have demanded more, they'll say.
But what is the meaning of love?
If you have to beg for it,
Doesn't that destroy its whole meaning?
Isn't love free flowing?
Doesn’t it stand against all barriers?
Why should I have to beg?
I deserve love and many more
So why must I beg and be left out?
Casted away and looked down on
Who put a cost on love?
It free for her
And him too.
What about me?
Don’t I deserve at least love?
As a I bow to pain
And to every cruel wind,
Why must I become desperate for this?
Why must I be treated as another?
Of course I’m different.
If we were the same, we’d go crazy.
I know I offer different things
I can’t give what you crave
But is it that addicting?
That you’ll treat me like this?
It’s like sinking in sand
And reaching for a hand
But none is outstretched.
As ships sink
And anchors are lost,
So I follow suit.
Forever sinking until I’m completely gone.
After I am gone,
I pray someone remembers me
And come to remind me of who I am.
About this poem
Falling in love too quickly and finding that so much separates the two lovers. I wrote this poem because I remember a situation where I fell for someone and felt that we were too different which caused a lot of heart break.
