True Love

Trista Houle 1983 (Chester)

I have seen you many times,
Always thinking you would never care;
I wasn't seeing any of the signs,
Showing me that you would always be there.

I knew I couldn't endure any more pain,
So I had my heart closed off from any feeling;
Thinking to myself that I had nothing to gain,
I couldn't feel the warmth of your healing.

The day that my heart had found yours,
I knew that I needed you;
All I was seeing was open doors,
Knowing deep inside that it was true.

When I felt the warmth on my lips when we kissed,
That's when my heart had melted like butter;
I suddenly felt that a day without you would be missed,
My days were brighter and my heart was all a flutter.

At that very moment, I felt something in my heart,
Something that was warm, kind and very true;
Feeling as though we would never be apart,
True love is what is binding me to you.
