The colored woman in America

When I swore allegiance to the red, white and
Blue,
I was too white.
When I swore Allegiance to the red, black and
Green,
I was too black.
When I decided I was red, there was somebody
Putting ideas in my head.
And when I was brown, somebody put me down, said I had an identity problem.
Tall, good looking and tan, I still couldn’t
Hold my man.
But when I was blue, America said "now that’s
The right hue”.
