The Light

The light.
The light is fading.
Or is it gone already?
Did you ever notice that it was
Or is it just me?

The spark that started the fire
Seemed so meaningless
Oh, what it would become!
A raging fire that would spiral out of control.
But was the spark ever there?
Was the raging fire just an illusion?
Or did the fire die out
From lack of fuel?

Only one knows.
But will the other find out?
Maybe they already have.
They’ve been given a hint-
It’s up to them to see
If the flame died out, will one pretend it’s still going?
Will one hide it and keep going as if it’s still there?
And if the fire was an illusion, if the fire never happened,
Will one continue it?
Will one continue to lie to oneself and the other?
Or will one speak true, though it may hurt?

It is up to one to decide.
