Beaten

Arpan Dey 2004 (West Bengal)

Why struggle?
Why fight for a better world?
Don’t you realize?
You're running out of time?
You’ll go one day.
Your efforts will fade away.
Life is too short;
No point struggling.
But what do you do?
Life’d come to a standstill
If you sit idle:
Staying alive, but not living.
What’s living anyway?
In such a depressing world?
Even for laughing out loud
You need to force yourself.
You’re beaten
Beaten by the system
Beaten
Beaten
You’re beaten
Beaten
Beaten until
Finally
You’re beaten by death.
