Godforsaken

Though we recall we can't abet the "king" with feet of clay.
It was a fall without a net,
the godforsaken "way."
Though we recall we can't reset the "innocence" of youth.
It was a fall without a net,
the godforsaken "truth."
Though we recall we can't abet the "olden" neighborhood.
It was a fall without a net,
the godforsaken "good."
Though we recall we can't reset the "score" before we lost.
It was a fall without a net,
the godforsaken "cost."
Though we recall we can't abet the "well" regarded name.
It was a fall without a net,
the godforsaken "fame."
Though we recall we can't reset the "ease" of lucid crunch.
It was a fall without a net,
the godforsaken "hunch."
