jacqueline

Jacqueline

Speak it aloud

It springs from the lips

Languid and luxurious

It is a thank you note

Written in a monarch's own hand

It is the cursive script

Of a child dancing across a blinding sidewalk

You were not given this name by mistake

Do you tremble in sunlight?

And dance during thunder?

Your beauty is your mother's

And yours is her pride

Yours is a beauty damned

Like the magic of camouflage

Those blind to your beauty

Are blind

Yours is too loud for the likes of the deaf

Wave them away

Part them as if you were Moses

Pass through them as if

They were steam

You are a girl

Driving trucks through the forest

Twirling through galaxies

Of pollen and junebugs

Exploding in sunshine
