Scadoxus
I prostrate myself on marble
The cold surface caresses my cheek
I feel the dread of something evil
I don't even dare speak
In my mind's eye
I conjure my love
Venom ash inks the sky
I'm choking on Foxglove
Awakened by the dogs of winter
Whimpering, they come clawing my door
And my dreams begin their painful splinter
Into shadows and metaphor
Casting all your sins in stone
Will make them mighty hard to live down
Drained and pale, you're so thin to the bone
Wonder who will wear the crown?
Would you give your eye teeth
For a tiny glimpse through the port
Where the dead go to forgive
Those who pray for their sort?
Why can't I love him?
I can make him lose face
We can erace all trace of the embrace
I only wanted the Scent of the Lyken
I only wanted a Hint of something human
