The innocent bystanders of divorce.
The sadness that divorce can bring.
The ruined lives of everyone and everything.
The heartache and pain, the price they pay.
They live in fear, they don't know what to say.
It tears the innocent bystanders up inside.
They want to stay impartial, parents want them to choose a side.
They want the pain to go away, they want to hide.
For it's both their parents in which they want to reside.
They hate being stuck in the middle of the crossfire.
Of all the endless name calling, they do so easily tire.
Why can't it just be handled with kindness and civily?
So that the kids can be as happy as they can be.
Try to dwell on the good times that you've all shared.
With love and compassion handle them gently, because they're just scared.
You are the only parents they've ever known.
And they will love you even after they're fully grown.
So please take the high road and not the low.
I know it will be tough, but it's the only way to go.
Don't make them choose between either one of you.
It's not a fair position to put them in, it's just not the thing to do.
So instead of thinking of only your pain, think of your kids.
Because you will only hurt them more, keep your anger under your lids.
Remember, you have a choice in the decisions that you make.
Whereas they're just the innocent bystanders, caught in the quake.
