The loss of a mother

You were the greatest mother
because you're gift of love you freely gave
I know you're now walking with our heavenly father
who missed you so much he called you home
I had hoped your time here would have longer
maybe until I felt stronger
but he promised to keep you wrapped in his arm
where you'll always feel secure and warm
I know someday soon I'll see you again
when my time on earth comes to an end
this world used to be both yours and mine
but you left me, I guess it was time
the lessons you taught me still live in my heart
even though you and I are now apart
I can still see your smile so big and so bright
and I'm wondering what shall I do now without your light
Death has no sting where you've gone to rest
you are seated now among the very best
you are smiling down on me where you've gone to stay
but I'm missing you anyway.
