The World Discovered
A world discovered, naught is new
Nothing to see, nor refreshingly do
Way-finders all home, at rest in their beds
Satellite maps above lazy heads
Where to find the uncharted land
The tree-lined shore with untouched sand?
Sail the planet all around
To find only inhabited ground
Take to wing, reach for the skies
Descend where only desert lies
Even there a soda bottle
Awaits a slowly lowered throttle
Yet have no fear, it’s not so hard
To find the place less border guard
It takes as little as a thought
A one-way ticket can’t be bought
To travel to the unplowed earth
And feel the novice sailor’s worth
Atlantis, Pompeii, Eden yours
Your heart already knows the course
Fare straight onward in the mind
The current steady does not wind
To far-off and enchanted soil
Where endless beings know no toil
As simple as a daydream wish
You’ll voyage quicker than a fish
So never be afraid to dream
Of scented wood and virgin stream
They’re still out there around the bend
Infallible progress of modern men
Has not yet plundered every isle
Nor spoiled earthly soil with tile
Your piece of land, it still exists
And awaits with shrouding mists
Your eager hands and grateful eye
When you shall disembark and cry
“Who owns this place? Now it is I!”
