Analysis of EVIL EYES OF THE NIGHT

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

Evil eyes at night
Shining out of the darkness,
Killing just by sight.

Yellow snake-like eyes
With dark slit-like pupils,
Frightening men to death.

Women scream and run
Child cry from terror when,
The evil thing nears.

Evil yellow eyes
Approaching through ebony,
As darkfall comes down.

Brave men shivering
Whimpering from terror as
Unknown evil nears.

Dogs run off baying
Cats screech in fear as they run,
Night birds fall silent.

Evil eyes at night
Signalling death and despair,
Something evil comes.
