Analysis of A Scuba Diver's Observation
Andrea Doland 1990 (United States)
I spy her gawking at explosions of chestnut and emerald
Skimming froth and shingly crevices
She seesaws then flutter kicks through waters calmed
I laugh as she zips towards a dangling treasure unexplored,
Snatched up but giggling by way of touching faces
She seesaws then flutter kicks through waters calmed
I can’t help but sigh as she flies up past Midnight Embers, her preconceptions shuffled
A delicate silk line teases, tenses, teaches
She seesaws then flutter kicks through waters calmed
Out of my view, she catches sight of a sun and a string speckled world
But cold reflective latches are not lasting blazes, still she remembers how
She seesaws then flutter kicks through waters calmed
Bereft of her river, her chimera of treasure fumbled
Myself knowing, she waiting, ‘her’ fiend commences the tosses;
She seesaws then flutter kicks through waters calmed
Now as I ascend, I watch her pass pebbles, perceive colors, merely notice bait.
Gawking at explosions of chestnut and emerald
She seesawed then flutter kicked through waters calmed.
