Analysis of THE STATE OF DESPAIR

Since late ‘92 Victoria has been
Australia’s state of despair;
All our dreams of happiness
Have vanished into thin air.
We used to dream of liberty
But now there’s nothing there;
We used to have a good life
Now living is hard to bear.

Since October 1992
Jerky Jeff’s been on the rampage;
He has become a bumbling clown
On Australia’s most tragic stage.
Like a bull in Australia’s China shop
He’s destructive in his rage;
He’s made us feel like animals
Locked up in Victoria’s cage.

Since Jeff Kennett came to power
There has been a great migration;
One hundred each day leave Victoria
For other parts of the nation.
To Queensland or New South Wales now
Victorians go to seek salvation;
Our hopes and dreams have felt the knife
Victims of Kennett’s castration.

Each day more rights are taken
Away by this mad buffoon;
The state has been blown apart
By this most evil of typhoons.
We used to be so confident
But now we sing another tune;
We hope to see Labor back in power
And we hope it’s very soon.
