Analysis of KEVIN’S EMPTY PROMISES

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

When Kevin Rudd makes a promise
We know it won’t be kept,
For when they handed out integrity
Old Kevin soundly slept.

He promises to help the starving
With a one-off pension bonus,
But for invalids forced onto New Start
The bonus is not for us.

Like the Reaper stalking victims
Into our lives, old Kevin crept,
But when it comes to helping us
As the poor say, “Jesus wept!”

He promises to tax the rich
Yet still, they call him, “Mate!”
He promised to help the poor
Yet still, we starve and wait.

He tells us he’s doing, “Real good!”
It’s a shame we just can’t see it,
He says he’s the best thing since frozen chickens
But the poor say he’s got no merit.
