Analysis of Chasing What Had Arrived
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
That time to come to do it done,
Has long been here to have arrived.
Leaving behind many made convinced,
It is never too late for a mind to use...
To stay updated.
And not await to chase a clock.
Why many refuse to remain on a fence.
Hesitating to move,
Forward.
To decide to stop denying,
A life to live it had is not permanent.
Yet accept they do,
Those yesterdays gone to reminisce...
Repeatedly to wish them back.
As if with tight closed eyes.
And pleaded prayers to keep.
Cobbled stone streets.
Complete with horse drawn wagons.
Will magically reappear to relive.
While everyone they see,
Greets them to ask...
Where have you been?
Daydreaming about the future, again!
'No.
Just wondering what life will be like.
When people stop pretending,
These times we live to not appreciate...
Will dramatically change.
With a doing of technology introduced.'
'Technology?
What is that?
Where on Earth is your mind?
Have you lost it?
Hopefully that kind of change,
Will never happen.
We have enough problems as they are.
With lieing politicians,
Division, corruption, fraud and racism.
And...
As long as that is kept,
Controlled the way it is today?
Tomorrow?
None of that will be a problem.'
'I have heard prices are rising,
On eggs, bread and milk.
Plus my oil lamps I turn off early.
I can't keep up with the expense.
And...
I sold two of my horse recently too.'
'We are all experiencing the same thing.
Let's keep our heads held high.
Soon our new elected leaders,
Will change this dilemma.'
'I hope so.
Who are you going to vote for?'
'I haven't decided that yet.
But this I do know...
It won't be anyone,
Riding down an escalator.
Blaming everything on immigrants!'
'Yeah.
There was this guy,
Riding his horse through town.
Just yesterday.
Declaring of having visions of that!'
'I kid you not.
Then got off his horse,
To laugh hysterically.
As if he was out of his mind.'
'OH.
That must have been Paul.'
'Yeah.
That nut who lives in Revere.
Told me,
He saw some Russians coming.'
'Russians?
Russians coming from where?'
'Who knows?
Probably coming down that...
What did you call it?'
'These days?
Nothing makes sense.'
'Tell me about it.
