Analysis of LONELY, WINTER NIGHTS

Lonely winter nights
For lonely folk who live alone,
Huddled against a radiator
Longing for a family to call their own.

Lonely folk in winter
Surviving the cold of Melbourne Town,
Forced to stay in bed all day
To keep killer power bills down.

Lonely souls without a home
Forced to live and sleep outside,
As winter chills through to their souls
Until the bitter day they die.

Lonely poor with no-one
Willing to offer them a hand,
Living below the poverty line
In this no-longer lucky land.

The lonely nights of winter
Chill right through to the bone,
Especially for the elderly and unemployed
For poor folks living alone.

Lonely Antarctic winter nights
That freezes your very breath,
Street folk fight and lose against
A cold that brings them death.

Winter wind howling
Like a monster in the cold,
Bringing death and illness to
The unemployed and old.

Lonely, lonely, winter nights
Signalling the end of life,
To so many living out of doors
Who can no longer survive.
