Analysis of RIVERMAN

A man-like creature lives
Within a fetid lagoon,
People have only seen him
In the light of a sneering moon.

Most people say he's a legend
But others swear that he's real,
He lives in the water by daylight
When for safety he is concealed.

But as soon as twilight comes
He goes hunting along the shore,
Eating anything he can kill
Human, bear, or boar.

The Riverman is prehistoric
A throwback to another time,
When mastodons and mammoths
Caroused this leafy clime.

He prowls the banks for food
Never daring to go far inland,
Although he's a fearless hunter
He learnt to be wary of humans.

Down by the riverside
Where he hunts for food,
The Riverman is a figure
Whom many folks will refute.

But wiser heads know he's true
Though most people call them crazy
And like U.F.O.'s and sasquatches
All pictures of him are hazy.

But in the dead of every night
The Riverman does come ashore,
To hunt down and eat his fill
Before going to water once more.
