Analysis of Ode to Aristophanes

Come Dionysus, let us entertain our frogs
as we prepare once more the great descent
into our darkened labyrinth.
There, our darkness is our light…
Not haunted by the need for space or time
we find eternal peace
in the company of spritely poets.
Gladly their shades hold court with us
in sweet cavernous bliss.
So let us drink again, and even again
the darkened earthly wine…
savoring its bitter-sweet sap
that nourishes the thirsty soul.
