Analysis of IN THE DARK WOODS
In the dark woods, terror
Lurks behind each shrub or tree,
Creeping slowly upon you
While you're too busy to see.
Evil creatures dwelling
Within these loathsome woods,
Beings from some netherworld
Out to do no good.
Hunting human prey
Nightmare creatures roam,
Hoping to find you wandering
Too far from your home.
In the dark woods, evil
Is behind each bush or twig,
Hoping to make this empty time
The last night that you live.
Towering trees hang downward
Reaching out toward you,
Like gods from Elder Lore,
Trying to break on through:
To break on through
From their universe to this one,
Hoping humanity will be finished
By the time that they are done.
Vines and ivy grab at your ankles
As though trying to pull you down,
Down into an awful grave
Within the verdant ground.
In the dark woods, death
Awaits you at every bend,
Waiting to leap out at you
Any minute, your life may end
THE END
