Analysis of THE MEMORY THIEF
He invites himself into your memories
To become a part of your lives,
Murder, mayhem, all kinds of chaos
Until only madness alone survives.
He becomes a part of your childhood
When you were paddling at the beach,
On sunny days, in winter climes
He was never out of your reach.
He went to primary school with you
Or at least that's how it now seems,
He walks beside you in your recollections
And plays with you in your dreams.
And when you graduated high school
You were standing side by side,
You've known him all your life you think
Yet you never met until yesterday night.
In fever dreams, you both went to work
On the same most awful factory floor,
Then worked together in a mailroom
Then later in the stationery store.
In dreams, you worked together
In one place and then another,
He was closer to you than your sister
Than your parents, or your brother.
Through your lives you were inseparable
Or 'insufferable' as your mother said,
You walked hand in hand through life
Only to meet again now that you're dead.
THE END
