Analysis of A TOWN NAMED PURGATORY

In a town named Purgatory
Which is just this side of Hell,
Foul creatures roam the streets
And wizards are casting evil spells.

The good and decent stay away
Those stuck there are left to rot,
Trying to survive each horrid night
While avoiding the Devil's lot.

Through the night comes screeching
As though it's the voice of death,
The good die young in Purgatory
Innocents barely dare take a breath.

In a town named Purgatory
All omens are always bad ones,
For no news is every good news here
And all promises have come undone.

Bat-winged beings swoop overhead
Shoggoths, Manticore, Wyverns fly,
Through the streets after darkfall
As Night Gaunts and Egrigors cry.

Werewolfs howling at the moon
Throughout the malignant night,
Travellers alone out after dark
Have been known to die of fright.

In a town named Purgatory
Only despair and fear reside,
All goodness has long vanished
All hope has long ago died.

Prehistoric beings are roaming
Throughout the darkened streets,
Hunting down all living things
Devouring animal or human meat.
