Analysis of NIGHMARE REALM

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

In the nightmare realm
Foul abominations roam,
Hoping to leave their world
Escaping into your home.

Gigantic Leviathans tower
Above most other life forms,
Within the hellish night world
Where terror is the norm.

Night Gaunts and Shoggoths
Winging just above your head,
Within this dreadful reality
Ruled by phantoms and the dead.

Bat-winged monsters soaring
Through the night-time sky,
As on the ground a Manticore
Gives out a hideous cry.

In the nightmare realm
Beings unknown to mankind,
Dominating the landscape
Trying to destroy your mind.

The sleeping world is evil
It is the land of the mad,
Sanity is unknown there
In a place where all is bad.

Goodness is unwelcome in
A place where monsters rule,
Where genius is unwanted
In a region run by fools.

In the nightmare realm
All your fears abound,
Yearning to escape into
Your own hometown.
