Analysis of 1943

It was the summer of 1943…..
The summer we fell in love…….
We were just two young teenage kids trying to find our essence and our place in this world…..
Just two young kids who fell in love way too fast and way to soon…...
Just two young kids who didn’t quite understand the meaning of love…..
But knew that we loved one another more than it was understood….
You nor me knew that teenage love was also referred to as puppy love….
And as it was true, I loved you…..
I lusted after you as thee adults would have it…...
We were only two young teenagers who loved one another so much that it was fatal….
I loved you so much that I would write in my diary every single night about how the two of us would run away and leave our crazy lives behind just to get married and start a life of our own.
I dreamt of the day where you would call me your Mrs. Clutch.
It  felt like it would be forever on this planet but eternity in the afterlife.
We were two teenage kids who lived our lives in the forties
We loved listening to the teenagers and also to the platters
We’d sing why do fools fall in love at the milkshake parlor down by your uncle’s Barbershop
I never understood why we loved that song so much…
Until the day came where we asked each other why do fools fall in love?
It was teenage love that brought us together but no one told us, rather taught us about heartache.
Dear young teenage lover, I loved you until our love was old and grey.
And that was the summer of 1943
