Analysis of And Unto Us A Grandchild Is Born
Delicate fingers turn the pages of time.
Endearing all in wonder to observe.
Nimble fingers reaching out to touch the world.
Inviting all in sweet embrace, eyes soliciting:
“Share the wealth of human love.
Extend your Selves to every other Self!”
Touching and reaching out to all.
Heart all aglow with love.
Inflamed with passion of sweet innocence.
Denise, a child of all the human race.
At dawn of new millennium.
Personifying nature at peak magnificence.
Unraveling, child discovering the world.
Full of potentialities are you.
Open to the gifts of Planet Earth.
Latent talents manifesting, step-by-step.
Kindling joy in every heart and soul.
Elevating all of us to higher Selves.
Spreading joy to all the human race.

About this poem
This poem, written in acrostic form on July 4, 1999, celebrates the first anniversary of our first grandchild, a granddaughter, born on the Fourth of July, 1998, to celebrate the anniversary of the United States of America, a nation of immigrants, and to multiply the joy of her immigrant grandparents from two ends of the globe; Southeast Asia and the Caribbean. The acrostic poem is composed in a manner that spells her name.
