Analysis of Man’s Measure is Only Physical

Bible — a prism.
Metaphysical measure.
Of things that’s not seen.
Though some may call it schism.
From all that man can measure.

In contrast with time.
Consider eternity.
Everlasting Truth.
Where time has little meaning.
And life on earth is vapor.

The “Tree of Knowledge.”
Is not a physical tree.
It’s made of Spirit.
And therefore is enduring.
Therein dwells Eternal Truth.

About this poem

Man’s standards of measure, being empirical, enable him to advance socially, culturally, economically, philosophically, and scientifically at the peril of committing the Faustian transgression of losing his own soul , that which gives him clarity, and which truly enlightens him. This tanka poem is written in three stanzas to highlight and to amplify the nature of man’s shortsightedness, racing gallantly in this world, his habitat, like a horse with blinders on.
