Analysis of I am Ameterine

Jo-Anne Pigram 1983 (Sydney)

It was a myth.
I was never
Amethyst.
The truth of mine.
I am Ameterine.

The sacred place
Between earth and space.
Combined
A force to be reckoned with.
The divine in the diviner.

The truth of mine.
I am Ameterine.

About this poem

A breakthrough poem, about realising how wrong we can be about ourselves and realising who we really are. It is all so a poem with mystical qualities, hidden meanings and associations as the name may suggest. It could also be seen as being an incantation to the truth, an affirmation to gain clarity.
