Analysis of Music for a Moment

Elaine Flores 1954 (San Antonio,Tx)

Suddenly
Silence is
Swallowed
By sounds of senility

She is gone in the natural

A birth is recorded and filed with an expectation of optimism

Now we record- unnaturally
File and accept the alarming birth
Of Alzheimer’s

Then
There is her singing voice
Soothing melody that sits softly on the sounds from her throat
Paint colored pictures in the air that surrounds all who hear

Familiarity in them allows optimism to remain

She is back

About this poem

This is written initially for a male singer, but the decision to soften its power is a better read .
