Analysis of Let Go

Greene Meadow 1992 (New Jersey)

I wanna write something
Without a thought
Let the words come to me
Seeping through my heart
Fill the void
The empty page in front of me
The emptiness around me
Let the silence haunt no more
Get it out of me
I don’t want to think these thoughts anymore
Ripping me apart
Anguish filling my heart
Rage filling my mind
Make it stop
I want it, no more:
The temptations, the hurt, the darkness
Like my shadow lingers behind me with no thought
It’s all weighing heavily
The scale is about to break
I can’t hold on any longer
I don’t want to
Let me let go
Make it stop
The burning of my heart
Tear it apart
The clothes on me have become too much
Everything is weighing me down
Like an endless fire, I want to incinerate everything in my path
Close my eyes, tight
Shut my ears
Listen to the silence
No
The silence haunts me
It plays in my mind
The thoughts, the voices, the creaks, and cracks
No
Open your eyes
Please
Open
Open your eyes
Shaking me to a pitfall
Open your eyes
Eyes shut tighter
Too afraid to see what lies ahead
Too afraid to move on
Too afraid to look
Darkness encases me
Darkness was my friend
The only one who ever listened
Opening my eyes
I’m terrified
I look around, it’s bright everywhere
I can see my truths
Nothing is hidden anymore
I try to close my eyes, something is preventing me
The silence is no more
There is no sound but the loudness is getting louder
Turn it off
Shut it off
Make it stop
I want it no more
Please
Close your eyes
Close your eyes
Thoughts wrapping my mind
Encasing my heart
Fear
Anxiety
Close your eyes, please
Please
Gentle voice comes to me
Don’t worry it says
My eyes shut
It says don’t worry it will be okay
I look around, everything is empty
Just the spilled cup of water remains on the floor
No one is around
Emptiness so vast, every which way I turn, it’s empty
Heart slows down
Touch my heart, I feel nothing
Chest moving rapidly, trembling breath, no heart thump
Worry overtaking me
I hear the silence speaking so loudly
Everything is so bright
The phone ring startles me
Close my eyes
I don’t want it anymore
Let go
