Analysis of Mother

John A. Burnett 1949 (Jersey City)

I went down by the creek today,
my mother went with me.
We watched the squirrels at play,
there were two up in a tree.
Over by a huge oak tree,
there were daisy's all around.
Beauty for the world to see,
singing birds, the only sounds.
Sitting on a bench with Mom,
we laughed the time away.
Gently blew the wind, so calm,
wildflowers were arrayed.
There were lilies in the field,
mom said, they looked divine.
So special, nature reveals,
majestic, colorful designs.
Mom so loved the sun,
it made her features glow.
It's sad when the time comes,
when my mother has to go.
You see, she lives in heaven,
but comes back to me some days.
To walk with me in the garden,
and leaves memories in her place.
