Analysis of Remember

The desire was still there,
But the ability was not.
A place they used to call their home
Now seems a foreign land.
No way to bring it back.

Key memories, distant or near
No longer hold their stick.
A thought that once brought many smiles
Now solely a blank space.
No way to bring it back.

The wrist has turned ten thousand times,
Though keys were lost again.
It takes an age to find them, then
Not knowing which is which.
No way to bring it back.

Unjust how people suffer through
Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The same one whom you’ve loved so dear
Deteriorates with each day.
No way to bring it back.

A personal loss for themselves
As those adored deplete as well.
No suffering can feel ideal
The tunnel’s light’s far behind now.
No way to bring it back.

The hope for solace rests within
And optimism’s grasp is strong
If faith is all that still remains
Embracing such be our source.
Wishing to have it back.
